Oksana Bersirova has received numerous prestigious awards, including the Boris Paton National Award (State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Technology) (2021), the A.I. Brodsky Prize of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (2018), the BMU Award – an International Award of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, and the Academy of Sciences of Moldova (2010). She has also been honoured with the Award of the President of Ukraine for outstanding achievements in science and technology at the Dr. Sci. level (2014). Additionally, she is a recognized expert and a member of AcademiaNet, a Swiss National Science Foundation database of outstanding female academics.
Her primary research focuses on developing theoretical foundations for controlling the electrochemical formation of functional deposits, particularly for silver, gold, and refractory metal alloys (W, Mo, Re) with iron-group metals (Fe, Co, Ni). Her work involves a comprehensive study of the discharge mechanisms of coordination ions with varying chemical properties and the identification of stable and sustainable electrodeposition conditions for functional metal and alloy coatings. Over the past 25 years, under her leadership and with her direct involvement, numerous advanced materials with unique functional properties have been developed and studied. Consequently, a scientifically grounded set of structural and technological methods has been established for producing competitive functional coatings for the modern aerospace, energy, and electronics industries.
